Our beloved wife, sister, and auntie, Kelly Shimane, sadly, despite a fierce battle and positive attitude passed away on January 11, 2024, with Dale, siblings Tina and Corey by her side. She and her husband Dale were sweethearts for more than 53 years. They first met on April 1, 1971, and were married on April 1, 1979. Kelly attended public schools in San Jose. She went to San Jose State, majored in Journalism, and simultaneously worked at AT&T. Later she earned a BS in Organizational Behavior from San Francisco State University. She retired at age 47 from AT&T and then worked for United Rentals. Kelly loved dogs and was the best pal of Murphy, Riley, Holly, and Nikki. She enjoyed traveling, particularly to Hawaii and Disneyland. And she was a talented crafter. Kelly developed kidney disease and was receiving dialysis three times a week. In 2016, her sister Tina, generously donated one of her kidneys. However, Kelly began to develop multiple infections due to her compromised immune system.
Kelly is survived by her dear husband, Dale; siblings: Tina, Corey, Karen, and Steve. She was a loving auntie to Monica, LeeAnn, Mike, Lisa, Lowell, Craig, and Kirk; great aunt to Samantha, Richard, Marie, Jessica, Gabriel, and Zavior, and great grand aunt to Grant, Wyatt, Annakat, and Dean.
Memorial service will be held at San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin, 640 N. Fifth St, San Jose, on Tuesday, February 6 at 3:00 pm.
