Julio Mike Castañeda

Mike Castañeda passed away on August 17, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Castro Valley, the son of Andrew and Dominga Castañeda. Later, the family moved to Tracy, then Hayward, and finally settled in San Jose. In 1988, he met his beloved Cecilia, and together they raised their own family, while Mike worked in construction.

Mike loved to fix and tinker with things; he always had some type of project he was working on. He loved refurbishing jewelry, family night board games (even though he'd cheat), riding his bike around the Eastside, spending time with family and friends and of course, spoiling his dog, Chuddos.

Mike is survived by his wife, Cecilia Flores and his children Mike Castañeda Jr., Andrew Espinosa, Julio Miguel and Genoveva Castañeda. He also leaves brothers Andrew and Benjamin, and sisters Petra Castañeda, Ruth Perez, Mary Lopez and Carmen Colin. Mike was predeceased by his parents and his brother Robert.

Mike was very loved, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Vistation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2020, Rosary at 1 p.m., at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow Street, San Jose. A funeral mass will be said on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at Five Wounds Portuguese National Church, 1375 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose.
