Joe passed peacefully at age 95. He is survived by Catherine, his wife of 75 years; children: Joann & Mike Michel, Cathy & Nick Cain, Fr. Ron Sanfilippo, S.J. (deceased), Liz & George Silva, Chuck & Marie Sanfilippo, Marie & Allen Viola, Dave & Laura Sanfilippo; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
Joe was born in Pennsylvania and moved with his family to San Jose in 1931. He graduated from St. Patrick's and Bellarmine and attended St. Joseph's Seminary. He married the love of his life, Catherine, in 1940, served as a Marine in WWII and was a 67 year east San Jose resident.
Joe was a dedicated son and brother, a devout Catholic (founding member of St. John Vianney Parish), loving husband and father, loyal employee and AFL-CIO Union man, had a great sense of humor and was a true gentleman.
The family thanks the staff at Vista Manor for the loving care that Joe received.
Rosary will be held on Monday, 12/14 at 7:30PM at Lima Family Erickson Mortuary, 710 Willow Street, San Jose, Mass will be held on Tuesday, 12/15 at 11:00AM at St. John Vianney Church, 4600 Hyland Ave, San Jose.
