Jon David Leese

Jon “Papa” passed away on December 17 from complications following surgery. Jon was born in San Jose and graduated from Willow Glen High School. He lived his entire life in Willow Glen. In 1964, he was attending San Jose City College when he came down with mononucleosis. The timing was such that he was drafted by the Army. He served his tour of duty in Vietnam as an infantry man; and earned citations for valor. Jon married his sweetheart Georgia in 1968 and they recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with sons Mark and Steven. Jon is survived by his wife, Georgia, sons Mark (Diane) Leese, Steven (Rachel) Leese, and his grandchildren Lucas, Collin, Jonathan, Parker and Elyssa. He is also survived by his sisters, Janet LaBarbera, Mary Lima, brother Rick Leese, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mamie Leese. Jon’s greatest joy was in helping others and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His humble nature, charm, and generous heart touched many lives. He is our hero and will be forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Swords to Plowshare (Aid for Veterans), American Cancer Society, or any charity of your choice. Memorial service will be at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park 300 Curtner Ave San Jose, CA 95125 Friday January 5 at 12:30pm.
