James “Jim” Ciarico, resident of San Jose, CA was born to Tony and Mary Ciarico on Nov. 9, 1961, and passed from this earth on December 31, 2023. He is preceded in death by his oldest sister and mother and leaves behind his adoring wife, children, siblings, and father.
Jim attended St. Anastasia elementary school followed by Cary Grove High School in Illinois where he graduated in 1979. From 1979 to 1982 he led his band Ian Seth playing bass and lead guitar, all without a single lesson in music or guitar. In 1982 he followed his older sister to San Jose and made California his lifelong home. Jim met the love of his life at church in 1993 and they married in 1995. He put himself through college and graduated with a BA in Accounting, which led to many successful roles in leading technology companies in the Bay Area.
Throughout his life, Jim was a dedicated family man; a devoted servant in his church as a catechist, parish council member, ADA chair, music ministry; Knights of Columbus member, husband, dad, brother, son, and friend. His children could always go to him about anything no matter the circumstances. He prepared them well for life’s challenges and taught us to be the most compassionate people we could be. He was a very resilient person and was able to keep his head held high and maintain confidence in himself and those around him no matter the circumstances. Though Jim had many hardships in life, he never stopped looking for any way to make his family and others smile. Jim’s happiness and big heart invited everyone to be their truest self around him.
In his heart Jim was an artist and created countless videos documenting life with his family, his love of nature, and the occasional dead pan humorous parody of current events. He was able to easily create thousands of stories from the world around him, and shared these frequently to the delight of his family and friends. From slow motion views of hummingbirds and bees, up close videos of flowers in bloom, museum tours, street festivals, countless moments from his children’s and wife’s life events Jim could tell a story to anyone. Things that might have seemed mundane to others were artistic opportunities to Jim and he never hesitated to explore creative ways to capture the world. He had such a sense of humor, and always looked for the bright side in any circumstance. His love was overflowing leaving anyone who met him with a sense of joy no matter what, letting anyone who knew him know that they were loved. He is dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.
We know he is now so incredibly happy in Heaven and are so relieved he is feeling love and is light like a butterfly. He is with the Big Guy.
