Edwin Gary Gagarin

Son to Bob and Remy, Edwin loved his family with an unmatched passion. He was a native Californian that proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, for which he received an honorable discharge. Beloved father, Edwin was very proud of and loved his son Jesse. He is also survived by three siblings, his two brothers, Edward and Freddie and his sister Remy Ann. Edwin is described as the family member that brought life to every family event. The family prankster that told the best jokes and made everyone laugh. He loved his son and his siblings were his best friends.

A Bay Area native, Edwin attended Fremont High School and joined the Navy shortly after. When his Navy contract ended, he walked a colorful path of different careers, Jbugs, Sears Automotive, Caterpillar Mechanic and JLG Lifts. After working for almost 20 years in the mechanic field, he found his love for trucking. Starting over the road with CR England, Edwin switched to Swift Transportation as a driver trainer, which allowed him the chance to drive all over the country until he settled in Pennsylvania.

Driving was his passion but due to rising medical issues, Edwin had to stop and chose to call Altoona his home where he lived a very quiet and simple life. He was liked by his neighbors and peers in his community where they all spoke very highly of him and his extremely funny stories of his life on the road.

We will miss his larger than life smile, his gregarious laughter and the warmth he always brought to fill a room with love and joy. We will always love you, Edwin, Uncle Eddie, Wed, Manong…

Viewing will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday July 8th, at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow Avenue, San Jose. Celebration of Life Services will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday July 9th at Lima Family Erickson.
