Born on February 11, 1923 in Portland, Oregon, Don attended Tigard High School. He proudly served in the US Army and received a Bronze Star for his courageous act of saving a military officer behind enemy lines. An exceptional automotive mechanic for 46 years, his jobs took him to various places, including Portland, Burlingame, and finally San Jose. He was also a Shriner in the Masonic Order. Later in life, Don enjoyed RV traveling across the US and Canada with his loving wife of 44 years, Arlene. He loved to take care of his walnut orchard in Pilot Hill, CA with his caterpillar tractor.
Don passed away peacefully at his home on June 29, 2011 with his loving wife and family. He is survived by his wife, Arlene, his two daughters, Pat and Pam, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Oak Hill Funeral Home’s Drawing Room Chapel in San Jose, California.
