Born Oct. 22, 1940 in Texas and a faithful Dallas Cowboy fan to the end, Dolores died Sunday, February 10th, 2013 of complications due to RA. DOLORES (Del; Dodo) BONITA DE LA VEGA
Pre-deceased by her special one, James Phillip “Bear” Lumley, Dolores is survived by her sister, Christina (R. H.) McCain of Minden, NV. and many nieces and nephews. Also, her adopted Mother and best friend, Georgia Smoot-Lumley; her “siblings” Marrene Dye, Tammy Ramirez, Judy Johnson and Stacia Lumley; Godson, Michael A. Ramirez; and her extended families, Barnwell and Johnson.
Dolores was loved and appreciated by numerous generations of extended family and wonderful friends. She never forgot a birthday, an anniversary, a holiday or an excuse to send a bit of thoughtfulness. She was a loving, loyal and caring woman.
Del worked for the Santa Clara County court system for over 42 years, rarely missing a day of work. Her few vacations were adventuresome, as when she visited Israel during the Six Day War. She loved her “Court Family” and the friendships she made there were precious and meaningful to her.
A special thanks to the staff and residence at The Atria on Pedro Street and to the Third Floor Telemetry Unit at Kaiser in Santa Clara for the loving care provided to Dolores.
A celebration of Dolores will be held on March 9th, 2013 from 1 to 4 in Campbell. Contact Judy/Stacia at 1-408-371-8113. If you wish, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Dolores’ name.
