David was born February 8, 1964, in Taipei, Taiwan to Ti-Ti and Mine-Kung Wang and immigrated with his family to the US in 1976. Here he learned English and made lifelong friends in Spencerport, New York.
Despite many challenges in his life, including a degenerative disease, Charcot-Marie-Tooth, David excelled at everything he ever tackled with determination and grit. Though his body sometimes held him back, his mind never did. He loved to whitewater canoe and competed in competition when he was in high school.
He graduated from the University of Rochester first with a Batchelor of Science in Optics in 1985 and then with a Master’s and PhD in Optics 1992. He began a long career as an optical engineer first in Tucson, Arizona and then moved to the San Francisco Bay area in the 1990s to pursue more opportunities. He ended his career working for KLA, inc. in Milpitas where he was a respected team member and dedicated leader within his division.
David married the love of his life, Wendy Farley, in 2012 and they spent the next 12 years together taking adventures to Hawaii and exploring the coast of Northern California.
David was a beloved husband, friend, son, brother, and uncle. He was kind and wicked smart. He had a calming presence and quiet way about him that made people open up to him. He would do anything for his friends and family. If someone needed help David was always quick to offer his assistance.
He loved nature, especially birds and flowers. He enjoyed being in the sunshine and adored the three cats he shared with his wife Wendy, Sophie, Arya, and Sesame. They brought him hours of entertainment, love, and joy.
David lived a full life despite his disability. He worked hard, loved hard and was a shining example of what persistence and determination could accomplish. He will be missed forever.
He’s survived by his wife Wendy, his mother Ti-Ti Wang, his brother Bill Wang and six nieces and nephews.
