Barbara Jean Farmer was born in Terrell, TX to the parentage of Lennon & Ella Farmer. She was number 9 of 13 children. At an early age, she was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she spent numerous Sundays in Church. Barbara attended Terrell ISD, where she was a member of the band. She briefly attended nursing school before moving to Dallas, TX where she worked for Texas Instruments.
In 1979, she moved to San Jose, CA where she worked at IBM and made countless friends. She retired in 2005 after 22 years. Barbara loved good country food & her music. Her grandson was her joy as well as her loving and adoring twin daughters, Blynthia & Cynthia, both of whom took care of her until she left her earthly body. From 2014 until her passing, day in day out, they took care of her, making sure she had the best days of her life. She adored them. It was always the 3 of them. When and where you saw one, you saw three. They were inseparable.
To cherish her beautiful memories are: twin daughters Blynthia & Cynthia, grandson Tariq Al-Amin, son-in-law Jerome Qualls, brothers and sisters Faye Owens, Dessie Miller, Johnny Farmer, Ella Pickett, Bettye Owens, Bertha Arnwine, Rosalind Earl, and Dwayne Farmer. Her many nieces, nephews and cousins will miss her.
From your Daughters:
If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to Heaven
And bring you back again.
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why.
Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know.
But now we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store.
Since you’ll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
Is where you’ll always stay.
We will miss you beyond words, Mommy.
Your Loving Twin Daughters Blynthia Jan & Cynthia Ann
From Your Grandson:
Thank you for always believing in me, always
encouraging me, and always loving me. I will MISS you Nana.
Love, Tariq Al-Amin
From Your Sisters & Brother’s:
“Brother and Sister, together as friends, ready to face whatever
life sends. Joy and laughter or tears and strife, holding hands
tightly as we dance through life.” – Susie Huitt
