Arthur was born in Raton, New Mexico on 11 August 1922 to Alejandro and Virginia Gallegos. His passing occurred on 11 July 2021 while being treated at the Regional Medical Center in San Jose, California.
Arthur was the quintessential family man and a devout Catholic. He was a loving and loyal son, brother, uncle, grandfather and most importantly husband and father. He could be counted on regardless of circumstance in any situation. He was the cornerstone of our family, always offering strength, stability and constancy.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Katherine, of 72 years; his children: Arthur, Jim, Rick, Monica (Jack) and Ali (Phil); his grandchildren: Alysia, Jaake, Regina, Matthew, Vincent and Emma; his sister, Gina, and his brother, Jerry. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alfonso, Moses and Alex, sisters Inez, Maggie, Lily, Rosie and Betty and daughters-in-law Rochelle and Susan.
Arthur was a decorated veteran of World War II. His theatre of engagement was the Southern Pacific. During his service, he was distinguished by two Purple Hearts, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal.
Above all, Arthur was a good man in every sense of the word. He was loved by everyone who met him. He will be missed tremendously.
