To our friend and neighbor, Shirley.  We thank you for your warm heart. We will never forget your kind smile. You had a smile for all of the Valjalo girls - Vicky, Sylvia, Marion and  including my mother that shared your name, Shirley.  We remember we moved to Cyril Ave. in El Sereno and we were excited to meet you and your family. We will never forget your kindness of always accepting all the invitations to our home gatherings, buying Girl Scout cookies from us and teaching my sister, Sylvia, how to make your delicious Enchiladas.  We will keep you alive in our memories. We thank God our paths crossed. You will forever be in our prayers. May you rest in God's embrace.

I always remember you talking to me when I visited Amber. May you rest in peace, Shirley. You will be forever loved and missed. You are now with your husband as Angels.

You came into my life as my mom's answer to her prayers.  You looked after me like I was your own child. You loved me like I was your own child.  You were like my guardian angel.  My mom could not have found a better person to take care of me.

I will never forget the excitement I felt as a little girl when I was told I was going to visit you or the sadness I felt when it was time to take me home.  I will never forget our Chicken McNugget stops before you took me home.  I will never forget singing “You are My Sunshine” with you.  I will never forget watching Steel Magnolias with you and hearing your laugh when Clairee tells M'Lynn to hit Ouiser.  I will never forget how smart you made me feel.  When I start to feel like I'm not good enough, it's your voice I hear telling me how smart I am and how proud you are of me.  I was soooo very blessed because you showed me so much love.  I want you to know that I never forgot about you.  I wish I could have told you that you were one of my favorite people.  I didn't do a good job at keeping in touch with you or telling you how important you are to me, and I'm so very sorry about that, but I promise I will do a great job at keeping your memory alive so my kids will know who Shirley Flores is.  I love you always.
