Richard William Baumann, 76 of Rosemead died on March 6, 2015 at Citrus Valley Hospice in West Covina after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Richard was born in Wilmar (now Rosemead) on September 10, 1938 to Herman and Olga (Reifer) Baumann; he was the youngest of 4 boys. In November 1961 he married Margaret Mercer. He served in the Army at Fort Sill, OK. He attended Mt. San Antonio College and owned Speed O Motive a mail order auto parts business specializing in racing and muscle cars. Richard was also very involved in St. Anthony’s parish – he ran the raffle ticket booth at the festival for many years and he delivered food and clothing to needy families through his work in the St Vincent de Paul Society. Richard loved the Dodgers and had season tickets for years, he also loved horse racing and owned harness horses that raced at Los Alamitos and Hollywood Park.
Richard is survived by Margaret his wife of 53 years, daughters Theresa (George) Ullrich, Joan (William) Sutter, Kathy (Michael)Girvigian and son Stephen as well as his grandchildren Denise, Nicole, and David Ullrich, Alexandra, Megan, and Alison Sutter, and Nathaniel and William Girvigian. He is also survived by his brother Donald Baumann.
Services will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Pierce Brothers Turner Stevens Chapel. Viewing will start at 4pm and the Rosary will take place at 7pm. The funeral mass will take place at St. Anthony’s Church in San Gabriel at 1pm on Friday, March 13, 2015.
