Lionel was born in Guerrero, Mexico to Jose and Emilia Salgado. Lionel became a resident of California in 1954 and resided there for 67 years.
In his primary working years, he was a dedicated employee of Jahns Pistons. A man of many trades, he was a self-taught plumber, electrician, painter, and mechanic. He was always willing to take on a project for himself and anyone in need. Lionel filled his free time by traveling the world; a favorite place of his and Lupe’s was Cantamar, Baja California.
He enjoyed listening to mariachi, dancing, and being outside in the sun. He lived out his last years with loving family surrounding him and his bowl of ice cream full.
He leaves his wife of 69 years, Lupe Salgado; his daughter, Linda Salgado; his daughter Lynn Schmid and husband, Donald Schmid; his son, Lionel Salgado and his wife Sara Salgado; his son, Louie Salgado and his companion Gloria Hauffen; and his daughter, Leticia Ghaderi and her husband Mohammed Ghaderi; his sister, Loretto; his sister, Elvia; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; and close extended family members and friends.
Lionel, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, we miss you and love you.
