Rodney E. Williams was born on November 14, 1928, in San Francisco to Nelson & Ruby Williams. He attended George Washington High School, S.F. City College and later received a B.S. from San Francisco State and an M.S. from Golden Gate University. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Panama. Upon returning to S.F., He married Joyce Gray (deceased) and they were blessed with three children, Rodney N. Williams II (deceased) Brian and Vivian. Rodney joined the San Francisco Police Department in 1955. He served many assignments but found his true passion in Community Relations. Rodney was one of the founders of Officers For Justice, a union created to instill diversity, fairness and representation within the department. Both his son and daughter followed in his footsteps, joining the SFPD. Rodney and Joyce traveled extensively, making friends wherever they went. Another passion was live music. Known as "Bad Boy" at his favorite live music venue, he would dance all night enjoying his favorite bands. He is survived by his son Brian Williams, daughter Vivian Williams, his sister Beverly Henry, and countless nieces/nephews. He also leaves behind many friends, associates and music lovers. His passion and love for life will always be remembered. Services will be held Thursday, May 24 at 11:00 am at the San Francisco Columbarium & Funeral Home , 1 Loraine Court, San Francisco, CA 94118.
