Philip Yee, son of Chew Doon Yee and Ngit Ngan Tom was born on April 24th, 1935 in Kai Ping, China. He was the 5th son of 9 children. In 1956 he moved to Hong Kong and became a master tailor in the Wan Chai district on Hong Kong Island.
In 1962 he married, Yuet Sheung Wong (Sandy Yee) and started a family. In 1967 thru the sponsorship of his brother Jack Yee, Phillip brought his family of four to San Francisco , California.
Upon arrival his brother Jack found him a job as a dishwasher in Chinatown. Thru Phillip's ability to learn quickly and his leadership skills he was quickly promoted to head chef working in famous Cantonese restaurants such as Great Eastern, Kee Joon, Kam Lok, and New Woey Loy Goey.
In 2000 Philip retired as a chef to spend more time with his family. During his retirement he also improved his Mah Jong skills to the highest level and organized daily Mah Jong tournaments. He was well known in Chinatown as he would be greeted on every block as he walked down the streets of Chinatown.
He loved watching his sports channels in HD. Drinking fine cognacs and red wine; Gardening; Raising a flock of 15 Chickens; Spending time with his 5 grandchildren; Was always excited to see extended family from the Bay Area and Salt Lake City come visit him at his home; and of course he loved cooking for the entire family.
Philip Yee is survived by his wife Yuet Sheung Wong, older sister Xiu Er Yu, younger sister Xiu Li Yu, younger brother Zhuo Yin Yu, son Glenn (Vilma) Yee; daughter Wendy (Herman) Ma; grandchildren Jonathan (Corinna) Collum; Christopher Yee; Alex Yee; Aiden Ma & Ansel Ma.
