Nita Messerli was a native of Hawaii, born February 18,1940. Raised and schooled on the Big Island and Honolulu, Nita came to San Francisco in the early 1960s to study speech pathology, earning her degree at San Francisco State University. Over a thirty year career in this field, Nita served innumerable special-needs children in the West Contra Costa School District, before retiring in 2002. Nita met her beloved husband Pierre at the Buena Vista Café in San Francisco in 1965; they married a year later and moved to Pacifica, CA - where they enjoyed 55 years together before her passing on August 10, 2021.
