JC Wallace

February 8th, 1974 - November 5th, 2022

Juan Carlos (JC) Wallace was born on February 8th, 1974 in Mexico City. He was born to Robert Bruce Wallace and Delfina Ramirez whom he dearly loved.

JC was raised in an international home - his mother is Mexican and his father is American. He loved international cultures and spoke English and Spanish fluently. JC attended multiple international schools including the American School Foundation in Mexico City and spent two years of junior high and high school in Santa Barbara, California.

JC attended UC Berkeley in Berkeley, California where he earned a BA in Economics. JC had a wide circle of friends with whom he remained very close throughout his life. He was on UC Berkeley’s rowing team and loved hiking the trails throughout the Bay Area. He later returned to Berkeley to earn his MBA from the Haas School of Business where he focused his studies on real estate. He forged deep personal and professional relationships and loved being back home in Berkeley.

JC worked in the real estate industry for the most of his career and was a co-founder of Oryx Partners, A&A Health Services, and Alamo Health Services. He was passionate about finding creative ways to build housing for marginalized communities and spearheaded many projects that successfully brought innovative housing and development to the San Francisco Bay Area. He was a founding member of the San Francisco chapter of the Lesbian Gay Real Estate Group (LGREG). He was also a board member of Openhouse where he was dedicated to helping to provide housing and services to LGBTQ seniors.

Throughout his life JC was an exercise enthusiast and was a passionate member of the South End Rowing Club where he swam in the Bay with close friends. He had a deep appreciation for nature and was always available for a beautiful bike ride. He could often be found outside with his two dogs Beau and Chloe who accompanied him on his many outdoor adventures.

JC would tell you that the most important thing he did in his life was to build a loving family with Brian and their two sons Omar and Matthew. JC and his family were early pioneers in adoption within the gay community - they set a beautiful example of what family means for all. He was so proud of his two boys and reveled in their many activities and accomplishments. He loved watching his boys explore the world and could often be found on the edge of a soccer field or swimming pool cheering them on.

JC enjoyed a wide circle of friends that spanned many different groups and reflected his diverse interests. He easily made meaningful relationships and left a lasting impression wherever he went. He will be forever remembered for his laughter, joy, spirit and the love he generously gave to his family, friends, and community every day. He is greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all.
