Doris Ann Nordeen was born on August 23, 1928 in Omaha Nebraska to Ernest and Anna Nordeen who had two sons, Howard and Ray, before their only daughter joined the family. One more boy, Don, came along after Doris. The Nordeens were of Swedish heritage, originally from Denver, Colorado and relocated to Omaha due to Ernest's job with the railroad. In later years they moved back to Denver.
Doris graduated from high school in Nebraska and started a secretarial career. Eventually moving to California, she lived in Oakland and commuted to San Francisco for her job until she decided to live in San Francisco as well.
Her long secretarial career culminated with over 34 years at Corron & Black/ Miller & Ames where she was a well respected figure at the office and formed long friendships with co-workers.
She was a stunning single gal who enjoyed traveling, including a trip to Russia and many times to Hawaii. She enjoyed socializing with her friends (girlfriends and lucky bachelors), played at poker game nights and had season tickets to the opera. For a time she drove a convertible making quite an appearance driving with her blonde hair and sunglasses. Doris was talented, making some of her clothes and many needlepoint projects over the years. She was an avid reader and found England's history especially interesting. She also was a sports buff, enjoying various games and events on television.
All her brothers married making Doris an aunt to seven nieces and nephews and their children. She was the last of her immediate family and as she wanted died at home in San Francisco on May 28, 2024 at 95 years old, a long life for a special person.
