Yen-Mei Su Lee

Yen-Mei, the wife of Elder Min-Shiu, was born into a Christian family in Changhua, Taiwan on April 12, 1940. Her grandfather, Reverend Su was an admirable and loyal servant of God. Her father, Dr. Chien Hui Su, was a famous ENT doctor in Changhua and an elder of the Changhua Presbyterian Church. Her mother, Cheng-Cheng Ko, was a devoted mother and wife.

Yen-Mei was a smart, innocent and lively little girl. She started learning piano with her mother at the age of six. After graduating from elementary school, she was admitted to the provincial Changhua Girls’ Middle School with honors. Because of her excellent piano skills and academic performance, she attracted the attention and admiration of all teachers and students in the school. After graduating from high school, she was admitted to the renowned music department of the National Taiwan Normal University, majoring in piano, and studied under Teacher Mrs. Lu Xiufang who returned from studying in Japan.

In 1962, Yen-Mei returned to her hometown to teach at her alma mater, Changhua Girls’ High School. Due to her outstanding piano skills, she became well-known instantly. Many people from counties, cities, and towns near Changhua were attracted by fame and traveled to come to learn piano from her.

In 1964, she received a teaching assistant scholarship and came to the United States for further studies. During her studies in the graduate school, several professors discovered her dual talents, not only superb piano skills, but also outstanding performance in vocal music. She broke a record for obtaining a Master of Music degree in just one year!

In 1966, she married Elder Min-Shiu Lee and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. At the same time, she applied for the state's tenure music teacher license and taught at Willoughby Fine Art Institute and Cleveland Music School of Settlement. She obeyed God’s will and concentrated on caring for her husband and raising godly children by building a Christian family. Her husband was able to complete a doctorate degree in science and engineering from Case Western Reserve University within three years. She has contributed a lot both as a mother and with her God-given piano talents. Her son, David, graduated with an undergrad from Harvard University, medical school from Yale University, and completed his residency training at Stanford University. Her daughter, Terri, graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Health Sciences and worked for Procter & Gamble in their Olay Cosmetics Research & Development. Now, all the children are married and they have four beautiful grandchildren, all of whom are loyal and love the Lord. She was proud each of her grandchildren worked hard to succeed in their careers and give glory to God.

Yen-Mei was a devout Christian and loved the Lord all her life with humility and simplicity. Although she grew up in a wealthy family, she was able to manage the house wisely and diligently. She taught piano at her home studio for more than 20 years, with uncountable students from all over the country. On Sundays, she concentrated on serving the church with all her heart. She volunteered to serve as the pianist and choir conductor for Sunday worship. After retirement, she settled in San Diego, and continued to engage in cross-church music ministry. She also led the Caleb Fellowship of the Chinese Bible Church of San Diego with her husband Elder Min-Shiu for many years, serving as a pianist. She honored God and loved people all her life, served faithfully, and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Yen-Mei was a virtuous woman who honored the Lord. Her words and deeds will always remain in the hearts of each of us.

Yen-Mei is survived by her husband, Min-Shiu Lee; daughter, Terri Lee Wang and her husband, Sam Wang, and two grandchildren, Michael and Rachel Wang; and son, David Lee and his wife, Christine Lee, and two grandchildren, Rebecca and Teddy Lee.

蘇妍媚姊妹生平略歷

主內妍媚長老娘1940年4月12日出生於台灣彰化基督教世家。祖父蘇育才牧師是一位令人敬佩 的忠心主僕, 父親蘇振輝博士是彰化耳鼻喉科名醫，為彰化長老教會長老。

妍媚自小聰穎伶俐, 天真活潑。六歲隨母開始學琴, 小學畢業後，以優異成績考入省立彰化女中初中部及高中部。因為琴藝及學業兼優, 頗受全校師生注目和欽佩。高中畢業後又考入國立師範大學全省聞名的音樂系，主修鋼琴，拜師日本學成歸國的呂秀芳老師。

1962年回鄉執教於母校彰化女中。由於琴藝精湛出眾，一時名聲大噪，許多彰化附近縣市鄉鎮人士均慕名遠道爭相來拜師。

1964年獲取助教獎學金來美深造。在研究院學習中，被幾位教授發現她的雙重天份，不只琴藝精湛，在聲樂方面更有突出表現。才華橫溢，驚為奇葩，突破在短短一年得到音樂碩士學位的記錄。

1966年與李敏修長老結為連理，移居俄亥俄州克利夫蘭市。同時申請到該州終身音樂教師執照，並執教於 Willoughby Fine Art Institute 及 Cleveland Music School of Settlement。她一方面認真教學，一方面遵行主道，專心相夫教子，建立基督化家庭。夫婿能在三年內完成 Case Western Reserve University 科學工程博士學位，她功不可沒。 兒子David 畢業於 Harvard 哈佛大學，完成 Yale耶魯大學醫學院 MD 學位，也在 Stanford 史坦福大學坦任住院醫師。女兒Terri 畢業於 Purdue 普渡大學健康科學系，並任職於 P&G 公司美醫化粧研究部門。如今兒女均成家立業，得四位孫兒女，個個都是忠心愛主，奮發上進，努力工作事業有成。一切榮耀歸給神。

長老娘畢生敬虔愛主、謙和純樸。雖然自小家境優渥，婚後卻能勤儉持家。在家私授鋼琴20餘年，如今桃李滿天下。週日則專心在教會事奉，曾擔任主日崇拜司琴及詩班指揮，盡心盡力為主擺上。退休後定居聖地牙哥，繼續從事跨教會的音樂事工。並隨夫婿敏修長老帶領主恩堂迦勒團契多年，一直擔任司琴從不間斷。她一生榮神愛人，忠誠事奉，力行耶穌基督博愛精神，是一位尊主為大的賢德婦人。她的嘉言懿行將永遠存留在我們每人心中。

A visitation for Yen-Mei will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM

A reception will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM

A graveside service (for family) will occur on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM
