She was born in Munich, Germany, on March 17, 1957, where her father was stationed as a young Captain pediatrician. She grew up in Gallipolis, Ohio, a beautiful river town she frequently returned to the rest of her life to enjoy its park and friends. She played percussion in the high school band and was editor of the school newspaper, the Gallia Script. After graduating from Gallia Academy High School, she attended Duke University, double majoring in Economics and German, with two summers working in Germany. She first worked for Texas Instruments in Austin, Texas, later working in Memphis and then moving to Atlanta, for her MBA from Emory University. She settled in Cincinnati, Ohio for over 30 years, working for Proctor and Gamble, Cincinnati Bell, among other companies. Along the way, Wendy accumulated many lifelong friends, keeping in close contact, particularly her Theta sisters. She was the loving daughter of James and Alice Orr (both deceased), treasured sister of Michael, Terry, Christopher and Randy Orr, and beloved Aunt to nine nieces and nephews and five grand nieces and nephews. She leaves behind the love of her life, John Friderichs, with whom she shared many happy times, music and seaside walks.
She is remembered for collecting Heisey glass, a passion she shared with her mother, playing board games and card games at family gatherings, and caring for her much loved Lakies (Lakeland terriers), particularly Dusty. She was a passionate, lifelong Duke basketball fan. Most of all, she had a fierce determination for life and deep affection for her extended family and friends, whom she would remember with gifts and cards, even when struggling the most.
