OBITUARY

Steven H. Amstadt

12 January, 1963 – 9 December, 2018
IN THE CARE OF

Beardsley-Mitchell Funeral Home

Steve was born in Sunnyvale, CA to Ervin Carl Amstadt and Nancy Hollis Amstadt. He was a resident of San Diego for 53 years. He is survived by his three sisters, Elaine Amstadt, Joan Porter, and Carolyn Healy. He will be lovingly remembered by his niece Rhonda Wilson, and his three nephews, Trevor, Aidan and Dustin Healy.

Steve grew up in Point Loma and will be missed by his childhood friends as well as his former co-workers at FORACS, RMS Technologies, and QualComm where he was employed until 2016.

A true outdoorsman, Steve participated in multiple outdoor activities. Many mornings he could be found at the Rube Powell Archery Range where he was a skilled archer. He enjoyed SCUBA, snorkeling, and body surfing. His work travel had enabled him to dive around the world including the Great Barrier Reef and Florida. He enjoyed anything space related; SpaceX, NASA, star gazing and rarely missed a Perseid meteor shower or cosmic event.

Steve enjoyed dinners and games with his sister Elaine. He had many adventures with Joan. Steve had lots of fun visits with Carolyn in the Bay Area and San Diego. For the last three years he enjoyed his weekly trivia group, RamRod Team, in La Jolla of which he was one of the founders with his good friend, Peter.

Steve enjoyed movies, TED talks, comedy and going to listen to live music. He loved a good joke, would wait patiently for the punch line, and then burst out with a knee slapping guffaw. He will be remembered by all for his quiet thoughtfulness, good humor and gentle, sweet nature.
