San Diego, CA
Sarah Lucy Jensen peacefully passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024 at the age of 91.
Sarah was born on September 1, 1933 to Francesco (Frank) and Pasqualina (Esther) Sposito in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Her parents immigrated to the U.S. from Italy. She was the youngest of 10 children, all who preceded her in death. She married Floyd Jensen on January 15, 1954 in Washington, DC. Floyd was a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy so they were stationed in various places before settling in San Diego, California where they purchased a home in the Clairemont area.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Floyd Jensen. She is survived by her son, Tom Jensen (Mary) and daughter, Patty Jensen, her grandchildren Brian (Kelly) and David (Crystal), and her great grandchildren, Ann Marie, Sarah and Finley, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren for their accomplishments, and especially proud that both of her grandsons served in the U.S. Army. She doted on her great grandchildren, all under the age of 6, and looked forward to watching them grow and blossom.
Sarah was a faithful Christian and a long-time parishioner at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Clairemont. She enjoyed many activities and friendships with her church family. Well known in her neighborhood, where she lived for 64 years, she was blessed with many good neighbors who frequently checked in on her in her later years. She enjoyed dancing and karaoke, reading, cooking, playing Scrabble and word puzzles, and meeting friends for coffee at her local Target store.
She will be remembered as a very positive and upbeat person. She was very social, making friends wherever she went. She greeted everyone she met with a smile and a complement, always focusing on their best qualities. In her final days, many of her caregivers commented on her sweet disposition, never complaining. Her community was a better place with her in it, and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. We are very grateful for the many years we were able to spend with her, and the many ways she touched our lives.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
