Sara Frances Renick, passed away on March 11, 2023, surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Eastham, MA. She was 82. Sara was born to the late Rafael and Lenore Garibay on September 23, 1940, in Tijuana Baja California, Mexico.
She graduated from Chula Vista High School and attended Southwestern Community College. Sarah would eventually marry the love of her life, Albert Charles Renick on November 19, 1969, after being fixed up on a blind date by her parents and in-laws. They would both live in Chula Vista, CA focused on their family and each establishing careers with San Diego County Sherriff’s Department over a length of 20 plus years.
Sara had an infectious smile, contagious sense of humor, a love for music, always the life of the party, a gifted cook, and enjoyed taking long car rides. Sara was a devoted nana often spoiling her grandkids. She touched the lives of so many people, and her memory will live in our hearts forever.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Albert Charles Renick of 20 years. Sara leaves behind her two daughters: Carla (Mike) Hemmings of Eastham, MA; Marita Renick of Wildomar, CA; three grandchildren: Sarah and Russell Hemmings; Katarina Renick; her brother: Rafael Ignacio (Tina) Garibay; three sisters: Alma (George) Navarro, Eleanor (Eddie) Wilkerson, and Anita (Tim) Ferrick; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family would also like to thank Sara’s caregiver, Sharnette Pearson (CNA), for her excellent care, allowing the family to honor Sara’s wishes to remain at home after suffering her stroke in November of 2018.
There will be a visitation held on Thursday, March 23rd from 4:00pm - 6:00pm followed by a Rosary at 6:00pm at Beardsley Mitchell Funeral Home (1818 Sunset Cliffs Blvd, San Diego, CA). The funeral will be Friday, March 24th at 11:30am at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and Academy (2802 Cadiz Street, San Diego, CA) followed by burial at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery (1700 Cabrillo Memorial Dr, San Diego, CA) and a gathering to follow (more information to come).
