Ryan Sumner Whiting

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ryan Sumner Whiting, a beloved son, brother, and uncle who passed away on March 2, 2023. Ryan was born to parents Katherine Eileen Whiting-Flynn and Steven Charles Whiting on April 24, 1986, in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. He was predeceased by his beloved brother Jonathan Whiting, who passed away on May 25, 2009. Ryan had been struggling with a debilitating disease, but his memory will live forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Ryan grew up alongside his siblings and parents; his infectious smile and lighthearted comments could light up any room. Ryan had a great sense of humor and was always up for an adventure. He was passionate about music, comedy, the Patriots, and cooking his favorite Eggplant Parmesan dish. Along the way, he became part of the lives of many friends.

Ryan's passing is a significant loss to all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering spirit. He leaves behind his parents, Katherine & Steven Whiting of San Diego, CA; his four siblings, William of North Stonington (CT), Neil of Brooklyn (NY), Jacklyn of Scottsdale (AZ), and Samantha of Yuma (AZ); and his four nieces & nephews, Piersson, Benton, Adalyn of North Stonington (CT), and Marley of Rhode Island; as well as countless friends and family members who will miss him dearly.

Although Ryan's life was cut short at an age too young to fathom, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In the midst of our sorrow, let us take comfort in the fact that Ryan is no longer suffering. He has gone on to a better place, where he will be at peace and free from pain. We will never forget him and the impact he had on our lives.

Rest in peace, Ryan. You will be forever missed and forever loved.

A celebration of life for Ryan will be held Monday, March 27, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Pacific Beach – La Jolla Chapel, 4710 Cass Street, San Diego, CA 92109.
