Roxie Lilbert Johnson, Jr. was born to Roxie Lilbert Johnson, Sr. and Laura Henderson Johnson on July 13, 1940, in Marshall, Missouri. He spent his formative years in Marshall, where he graduated from high school and joined the United States Marine Corps. He served proudly for 20 years, serving in the Cuban Crisis and two tours in Vietnam. The highlight of his military career was the eight years he spent as a Drill Instructor at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. Roxie was referred to as a Marine, Marine. - On January 10, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Maxine Murray, and to this union four children were born. He attended San Diego Community College and received an AA degree in Accounting and also Public Administration. - In 1987, he began his career with the United States Postal Service, and was soon elected to be the union representative for the mail handling department, retiring in 2004. In all he dedicated more than 38 years of service to the United States government. He knew the Lord and had a personal relationship with him. He was preceded in death by both parents and his sister Joyce Bausley. - He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Maxine; two sons, Terrance “Terye’ ”, and Roxie III, of San Diego; two daughters, Debora Crayton, of San Diego, and LaVonna Johnson of Southfield, Michigan; two sisters, Patricia Baker and Ylantha Erby both of Marshall, MO; three brothers, William of Henderson, TX; and Jimmy and Gregory, both of Marshall, MO; 11 grandchildren; Danae’ Crayton, Brittney Gray, Victoria Johnson, Brianna Uzoma, D’Chell Crayton, Dontae Johnson, Marqual Johnson, Bri’Aja Lloyd, Roxie L. Johnson IV, Marques Johnson, and Rhianna Johnson, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. - Although we will miss him, we know that he is now standing with both legs with our heavenly Father, in peace and perfect health.
