Robert was born in Omaha, Nebraska to William and Floretta McKeone. Later his family, which included five brothers relocated to Kansas City, Missouri. After high school, he served his country in the Korean War and was awarded the Distinguished Medal of Honor the Purple Heart.

Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley, his three daughters, Mary Anne (Gary), Shelley (John) and Kathleen (Scott). He is remembered by his grandchildren, Andrew (Rachael), Matthew, Patrick, Catherine, Emily, Rose, Anna and Sean. Bob is also survived by his brother Bernie and numerous nieces and nephews.
