Robert John Bump

Robert (Bob) John Bump age 73, of San Marcos, CA, went to be with his Savior 1/11/24. He was Born 8/5/1950 in St. Paul, MN. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and soldier (Navy: Vietnam Era). While in the service he received a National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service, a Bronze Star. He is survived by loving wife of 20 years, Valerie Weigt, married in 1973 and again in 2018. Bob was employed by ATS Steel, New Brighton, MN., various carpenter jobs in Austin, TX and later spent most of his career at Quality Drywall in Minneapolis, MN. He cared for his mother Marie, in her later years. He attended many AA meetings with Valerie in MN. Bob is preceded in death by father Eli, mother Marie O’Connor and brothers Pat and Tom. Robert is survived by beloved wife Valerie Bump, son Jason (Amanda), grandson Lucas, brother Jerry (Sue), brother Jeff (Sherry), sister-in-laws Susan and Michelle, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins and friends. He enjoyed boating, fishing and golf. Bob aspired to be a chef to his families delight. He always put a smile on everyones face with his light hearted sense of humor. Golf was his favorite sport: three generations, father, son and grandson parred many San Diego golf courses like father and brothers years before in Minnesota. He will be dearly missed by all.
