Pete was born and grew up in San Diego. He was the second son of Pasquale and Antonina LoCoco who immigrated to the US from Porticello, Sicily. In 1951 Pete married Ann LoCoco and they went on to have three children. Pete and Ann were married for 56 years, until Ann’s death in 2007.
For many years Pete was a tuna fisherman. He started his working carrier tuna fishing and then in 1960 he tossed away the fishing gear to manage a five-star restaurant in the Los Angeles area where he slipped into a tuxedo every night and played restaurant host to celebrities and politicians. Pete had a natural charm and affinity for his restaurant work. However, in 1972, Pete and his family returned to San Diego and he continued his carrier as a tuna fisherman.
At the age of 80, Pete took up word carving. He spent many hours in work shop hand carving fish and other sea creatures which he gave away to friends and family.
Pete is survived by his daughter Nina LoCoco (Clinton), son Felice LoCoco, his granddaughter Anna Smith, his sister Rosalie LoCoco and his brother Frank LoCoco.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by wife Ann Lococo and his son, Pasquale LoCoco.
The funeral Rosary and Mass will be held on Thursday September 1, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Rosary Church. Immediately following the Mass Pete will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.
