Onesta “Oding” was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Onesta Almazan Estores Garcia was born February 7, 1940, to Aniano and Felicidad Estores. She was a devoted wife, mother and Catholic. She enjoyed caring for her loved ones, which included cooking, baking, crocheting gifts, making us laugh, and ensuring her loved ones were always happy, healthy, and well feed. She was born in Manila, Philippines and fell in love with a neighborhood boy Eduardo Garcia. They fell in love and married in a small civil court wedding on July 29th of 1965. They celebrated the following February on the 20th with a wedding ceremony in the church. Oding would go on to have children with her “darling hub Ed as she would call him, and soon would place her roots of her life in San Diego, California USA. Shortly after the Navy called her husband to an assignment in South Carolina, and as the dutiful and loving wife, she packed the family up and followed to reside along her husband for the next three years until returning to San Diego. She spent most of her life in San Diego where she continued her life as a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother. She loved the smell of lavender, was a loyal Betty Boop fan, she loved drinking her favorite beverage coffee, enjoyed cooking and eating steak whenever she had the chance, followed by a decadent dessert. She was also known for her delicious cooking of the Filipino dish Kare-Kare, but one of her favorites to eat was Palabok. If you were a neighbor or close friend, you would always get blessed with one of her sweet Babinkas as a token of her love. She was a devoted Catholic who served the church in many roles, her presence there and contributions will be missed. Her love for animals was a passion inherited from her father who was a veterinarian. She could always be persuaded to bring home a stray or add a furry friend to the family. She loved music, and dancing. She always was humming a tune and grabbed your hand to dance, even when music was not playing. Her love for life never dampened and she was a fighter until the end. Her enormous presence in such a small frame will be missed dearly by all people who had the pleasure of meeting her, and especially by her family and friends.
Oding is survived by her husband Eduardo Garcia Sr, her daughter Jennifer Lee Garcia, her son George Garcia and wife Geraldine Garcia, her son Eduardo Garcia Jr, granddaughter Cristina Joule Garcia, great granddaughter Kennedy Faith Garcia, grandson David Mogan and Cecilia(spouse), great grandchildren Danny and Maya.
