He is survived by his son Paul Wade and his wife Christine of Murrieta, Travis Troxler and his wife Alison of San Diego, Troy Troxler and his wife Trish of San Diego. He was a beloved grandfather to Ryan P., Adam, Breeana, Ryan W., Jake, Brennen, and Skylar, and was a proud great grandfather to Ben and Sam. He was a caring brother to Judy Wisniewski of San Diego.
Mike grew up in San Diego and graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1963. He joined the Marine Corps directly after High School and was on active duty from June 1963 to August 1966. He was a combat infantry squad leader in Vietnam and was wounded in action in 1966. He received a Purple Heart medal for his service in Vietnam.
After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Mike started his career in Civil Service with the Department of the Navy. Mike worked his way up to Supervisor Production Controller of Shipbuilding at the Naval Air Station North Island. He retired in June 2000. During his 35 years at North Island he made many lifelong friends.
Mike was a fine father and a great husband. He loved golf and the many tournaments of Twin Pac. He was an amazing storyteller, even when telling the stories he was not supposed to tell. He would love to drink "VO/Coke in a bucket with lots of ice" and tell stories after a round of golf. He loved all San Diego sports teams and you could not tear him away from the TV and his favorite recliner. He will be missed and will always have a place in our hearts. Now he is at rest with his beloved Princess.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Monday, February 28 2022, at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122, followed by a celebration of his life at a private residence.
