How fortunate was I to have had the chance to know and become friends with Mel Stute! Mel had quite the personality, full of enthusiasm and vibrancy.  I will surely miss his colorful stories and reflections,  sense of humor, and kind nature.

Mel was a terrific human being who made an immense impact on scores of lives. The tributes he has received show just how special a person he was. 

Mel had many friends, and it was a true honor to get to know him and listen to his stories. He was a master storyteller, and he never failed to captivate me with his racing tales.

I will always be thankful for the kindness and support he gave me in the time I got to know him. You really made a difference in my life, my friend.
