Mary Alice Xavier is a beautiful soul and will forever be remembered as a courageous, and compassionate woman. She was born on April 28th.,1934 in Santa Cruz Das Ribeiras, Pico Azores, Portugal. Mary was 1 of 7 children born to Jose Pereira Cardoso and Diolinda Melo Cardoso. She married Joao H. Xavier on November 21st., 1955, and they migrated to San Diego, California in 1968 where they raised their 3 daughters- Gini, Maria, and Kimberly. The family settled in Point Loma where the Portuguese community is prominent. Mary was a hard worker and always put others before herself. She loved cooking and she always had a helping hand. Mary was the Snow White of the Portuguese community with her alabaster skin and memorizing green eyes. She loved her family dearly and she loved serving the Lord. Mary Alice celebrated her 85th birthday before passing 2 weeks later, with family by her side. She will forever be loved and she will forever be missed. Mary Alice Xavier was a true diamond in the rough. Her legacy will forever be honored and memories will never fade.
We shall rejoice and we shall be glad for the enduring love and authenticity Mary spread. She is now a guardian angel watching over all her beloveds, including her husband, 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
A mass will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at St. Charles Borromeo, 2802 Cadiz St., San Diego, CA at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
