Mary Jane Elizabeth Gaus

Gaus, Mary Jane Elizabeth SAN DIEGO -- Mary Jane Elizabeth Gaus, 88 of San Diego, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Mary was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1925. She was married to the late Henry John Gaus. As a Navy wife she travelled wherever her husband was stationed, finally settling in San Diego in 1959. During her lifetime Mary was actively involved in PTA, Convair Wives Club, Girl Scouts, TOPS and participated in numerous bowling leagues and Bunco clubs. She also loved animals, especially her cats! Mary was predeceased by her son, William "Bill" Henry Gaus. She is survived by her brother Charles McHugh and his wife Doris and three daughters: Charlotte Funk, her husband Roy, Susan Ochenduszko, her husband Tom, Barbara Wass, and Bill's wife, Frances. Mary is also survived by six grandchildren: Kirsten Funk, Joshua and Shaun Ochenduszko, Jason and Tiffany Wass, Theresa Gaus-Schmidt, as well as three great- grand- daughters, all who she loved and adored. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made, in remembrance of Mary, to Elizabeth Hospice at the address below. 500 La Terraza Blvd., Suite 130 Escondido, CA 92025. The schedule for services has yet to be determined. Interment will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Monday, January 20, 2014.
