Lillian Marie Childs

Lillian Childs passed away peacefully on November 25, 2021 at the age of 97. She was a long-time resident of El Cajon where she and her husband, Wendell Keller, raised four children: Nita, Joyce, Neal and Jason. Lillian loved the Lord and was an active and committed member of each of the churches she attended. In her later years, she and her second husband, Jim Childs, were parishioners at First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon where she served as a Marriage and Family counselor and grief counselor for a number of years. She received her doctorate in counseling from USIU and served as a counselor at Crisis House in El Cajon before opening her private practice in El Cajon. Lillian enjoyed her tenure on the Helix Water Board where she served for many years, including serving as President of the board. In honor of her outstanding service, Helix Water District created a scholarship in her name from which many students continue to benefit to this day. She was proud of her heritage as a native Californian and throughout her life maintained ties with her family in Imperial Valley. Over the years, Lillian enjoyed traveling, bicycling, camping with her husband and friends, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enthusiastic storyteller who will be greatly missed by her loved ones. A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon on December 7th at 1pm.
