Kathryn was born in Lafka, Greece on February 18, 1944. Kathryn was married to Paul Anest on July 18, 1965 in Bayard, Nebraska where they raised their four daughters and built the family farming business and closely involved in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, the choir, and Philoptochos philanthropic organization. In 1995, Kathryn and Paul moved to San Diego, CA and opened the European Market & Deli where their entrepreneurial spirit continued and where they enjoyed supporting the local community, including Sts. Constantine & Helen and St Spyridon Greek Orthodox Churches. Kathryn’s life was centered around her family, her children, supporting their education and career achievements, and her many lifetime friendships. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and had an interest in design which was evident not only in her home, but in her daughters’ homes.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters (Sylvia Kokiousis, Ellie Anest, Paulette Anest, Vasiliki Anest) grandchildren (Nicholas Kokiousis, Michael Kokiousis, Kathryn Lambert, Elena Lambert, Kathryn Anest), son-in-law’s (Kimon Kokiousis, John Lambert), brother (Dimitri Karvounis) and sisters (Tula Skourtis, Vikky Kolias), and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband (Paul Anest), parents (Eleni and Constantine Karvounis), sisters (Vasiliki Karvounis, Maria Pitsas), brothers (Nikos Karvounis, Giorgos Karvounis).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church- San Diego, CA, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church - Bayard, NE, and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (see below for details).
The Anest family wishes to sincerely thank the dedicated and loving physicians, nurses, and staff at USCD Moores Comprehensive Cancer Center, UCSD Jacobs Medical Center, and Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines.
