Kathe McClelland, 70, passed away on June 10, 2023, in La Jolla, CA. She was born in Tucson, AZ on July 21, 1952, the daughter of Norman P. McClelland and Barbara J. McClelland. Growing up, a tomboy at heart, she enjoyed playing outside with her friends that lived on the same block. She also played tennis through her youth as well as the piano.
Kathe met Elias Alvarez in Tucson, AZ, married in 1979 and had two children, son Joshua, born in 1981 and daughter Joy, born in 1984. In 1997, Kathe moved to Arizona to manage the operations of the family-owned dairy farm in Chandler, AZ known as Shamrock Farms which she did until 2018. Most recently she assumed ownership of the previous family-owned vineyard known as Lodi Farms, in Lodi, CA.
Kathe was a devout Christian throughout her life. Her love for God was reflected through her studies, acts of service, and generosity to communities at home and abroad. She made it her personal mission to live the life of Christ by feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, and coming to the aid of those in need. She raised many children that were not her own by providing a loving home, education, and spiritual and emotional guidance up until the time of her passing. Her duties as a disciple of Christ were fulfilled daily.
Kathe continued supporting a charitable foundation that was created by her mother called the Agape Foundation. Kathe inherited her charitable nature from both her mother and her father, and her children will continue their legacy of charitable giving.
Kathe was also an avid pet lover. She is survived by her two faithful companions, Storm and Lightening.
Her warm welcoming heart, generosity of spirit, and simple grace will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her brother Kent Mcclelland; son Joshua Alvarez and daughter Joy (David) Huneycutt and grandchildren Malachi Huneycutt, Joshua Huneycutt and Parker Huneycutt.
Services will be held at Evergreen Mortuary and Cemetery Saturday June 24, 2023. Chapel service is at 11 am with graveside service to follow.
