My dearest friend 1 year ago I lost one of my best friends.  I miss you everyday.  😔  

In the beginning of the gaming console wars, you sided with Microsoft and brought your brand new Xbox 360 with Gears of War to my house.  I accidentally bumped it and it fell over.  We experienced the Red Ring of Death before it became a thing.  Luckily your console didn’t break.  You had a mini heart attack and I don’t blame you.  That day was the beginning of our online gaming experience with the squad.  Who knew we would share the love of that video game with our friends and family members beyond San Diego. It brought us together for countless nights, as a strong community for many years.  We became family while we were deeply engaged in that digital world.  Even though we haven’t played online for quite some time, the memories remain.  Gears of War taught me to fight through the pain and that’s what I’m doing now.  It hit me hard when I remembered “Brothers till the end.”  Like in Gears of War, We remember the fallen.  RIP Jose Amadeo Herrera.

Jose my dearest friend my heart is still aching. I don't think I will ever overcome this pain. Buy I know you are at peace and won't suffer anymore.  I carry you in my heart ❤️ 

You were always a cool dude. Of course our first order of business whenever we hung out was “Hey how’s your motorcycle?” as you wore your biker jacket. Definitely tempted my dad to get a bike haha. Forever remember the good times, thank you, Jose.

You weren’t familiar as we were with English in elementary school. So, often times you would be embarrassed or angry because of the language barrier and your face would turn red as a tomato. Your lighter skin tone was of no help either. Much to our amusement, it made the color transition even more apparent. It wasn’t long before we also learned of your witty personality because you came hard at us with the comebacks. This trait is something I’ve always admired about you. Your intent was never been to belittle someone—only to snap us back to reality and away from our foolish thoughts. You thought me the power of one’s sincerity by simply being yourself. Descanza en paz, carnal.

I miss you so much. 

Jose Amadeo, thank you for always being there for my family and being yourself. You'll be truly missed but never forgotten. And remembering you, will always be of you laughing because it was contagious and you were a very humorous person that enjoyed living in the moments. Therefore, your spirit will always live on in our memories. See you someday, somewhere when we're all together again.♡†

Gracias por compartir tu amistad conmigo y con mi familia. Siempre fuistes la persona que al entrar a un lugar, llevabas una gran sonrisa en la cara. "Y esa sonrisa? Ahora que hicistes?". Y tú con la risa contagiosa, respondías con lo mismo, "Nadaaa". Este dolor es profundo, pero tus memorias vivirán siempre en nuestro corazón. Descansa en paz.

Somehow against all odds we were always able to go to San Diego Comic Con. Luckily we always had a plug for tickets, but at the cost of getting an item for them since they couldn’t go. 

We all became friends cause we were gamers and it made an everlasting bond that I will always cherish.

Even when Jessie joined the group it was as if nothing changed or time hadn’t passed. We were always able to pick up where we all left off. 

Disneyland was always on the group activity for us. We’d all go as a giant group, only for me to get lost. I’m sure I drove you guys all crazy with how many times I would disappear. 

Jose is the type of guy that will laugh out loud when you’re down and pick you up at the same time. He always has the ability to break ice down in the most awkward silent times. Bringing people together as if you know how to connect the universe together. Even now your’e bringing people together, mending relationships of the past, or creating new ones for the future. A caring person in his own way and going above and beyond for those who call you friend. You truly are an amazing person,  your existence will remain engraved in our memories of the epic adventures we experienced.

This was a few days after my 22nd birthday we planned a get together & went to Slater's 50/50. You, Me, Rogelio, & Danny. This became a regular thing from this point on. All going out for whatever it was wings, sushi, tacos. No matter what it was, the chats we all had together were good times. I'll miss you, Jose, you were a great genuine friend, one of my closest. Rest in peace. 

I remember this night when we went to this concert. We had no intention of taking a picture like this, but your friend, Louie, wanted one & this came about. You'd always ended up going with me to these shows & that's how we bonded. I'll always miss going to these shows & new wave nights with you. Getting those random texts of "Hey soooo you wanna go to the show???" Because you knew I was always down for it. 

On this day we went to Sushi Deli.  That was one of our favorite places to go to catch up.  I took this picture and sent it to Judith because she couldn’t make it to that meeting.  I was bragging to her that we were about to pig out and she was missing out.  Good times.

I remember messing with u in this photo, u weren’t too happy with me after but it was all in good fun. You showed up for my brothers 30th birthday and it’s a memory I will never forget We will miss u dearly Amadeo

Vegas was  One of the fondest memories -
You were a man of few words, quiet , reserved but loyal to the core. Your laugh was contagious.

We attended an early screening of Thor: Ragnarok for my birthday.  We drove all the way to the AMC in East Lake and nearly missed the movie.  My cousins and I made fun of your helmet hair.  We used to trash talk each other to get under our skin but nothing fazed you.  You would just laugh in my face and that would annoy me.  Good times.    

I met you in Mrs. Muñoz’ class at Cadman elementary in 1994.  We had so many common interests that we became best friends.  We went to different schools after middle school and lost communication for many years.  A few years after high school, we picked up where we left off like if there was no time gap.  We would play video games with the squad, communicate on game chat on a nightly basis, go to shows, movies, eat at restaurants.  You introduced me to sushi deli and ramen.  You used to love to make fun of me and laugh in my face.  I used to make fun of your love for cats.  We shared so many great memories.  You were always there for me.  You were a genuine person.  Thank you.  I will miss you Jose Amadeo Herrera. 

We meet at the trailer park, where we would run around getting into trouble and somewhere around the way we became adults. Even thought, we moved from the trailer park we remained in contact. The countless late dinners, movies, concerts, etc. Can’t  summarized all the good times and memories we created. Thank you for existing and allowing me to be part of your life.
