John Patrick Robinson, age 27, of San Diego, California, passed away on October 9, 2021. On the morning of Tuesday, October 5, he was riding his skateboard in Ocean Beach, went through a red light at an intersection, and was hit by a car. John died a few days later.
John was born on August 26, 1994, in Fountain Valley, California. As a young boy, John loved riding his boogie board at the beach, snowboarding down mountains, wakeboarding around lakes, and riding his skateboard. He was fearless and loved to challenge himself.
When John was 15, he fell from a rope swing into Lake Tillery, North Carolina. Although he had done this many times, this day there was a knot at the end of the rope. When John swung out toward the lake, the knot got caught on a piece of wood that had been nailed to the tree. The rope became taunt and he was jolted off… landing on the bank of the lake instead of in the water. John sustained a severe traumatic brain injury. He was in a coma for 3 weeks and hospitalized for 3 months. This brain injury changed John and he struggled for the rest of his life. Faced with great difficulties, John never gave up and tried his best to be present for his family. Once in awhile, John’s family and friends could see his loving spirit shine through his challenges and heartache.
John attended Mesa Community College and Associated Technical College where he graduated with honors and received a certificate in Electrical and Networking Cabling.
