Herbert L. Henson, 81 years old answered the call of our Creator on August 19.2022 at 10PM. He was a resident of San Diego County area since 1978 and moved to Riverside County in 2014. He was survived by his wife Shirley, son Mark, daughter Leslie, son in law Bill, grandchildren Will Johnston, Stephanie Brookshire, Bridget Pratt, and four great grandchildren: John, Isaac, Isabelle and Connor. He was preceded in death by son: Michael Henson, Parents Leslie and Wanda Henson and Sister Donna Mae Kringer.
Mr. Henson was a veteran of the three armed services. The Marine Corps, the US Army, and US Navy. He serviced in the Marine Corps with the 11th regiment of the First Marine Division, in the Army as a Paratrooper and as a Special Forces team communication Sergeant, and in the US Navy from which he retired in 1987 as a Senior Chief Radioman. Mr. Henson served in the Vietnam conflict in1964 with the Fifth Special Forces Association Group (Airborne). He was a member of the Special Forces Association, Chapter 75 San Diego and Chula Vista branch of the Fleet Reserve Association. Following his retirement from the Navy, Mr. Henson worked in the San Diego area defense industry for various companies such as RF Microsystem retiring in 2007 from Science Applications International Corporation where he was a Senior System Engineer. He was an avid reader and Ham radio operator for many years and also enjoyed sailing. He authored and published 3 books based on his military experiences. And currently it still is being purchase in amazon. The books are Night Signals, War Watch, and Mystery Islands –Philippines. He also authored a short story book under Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine.
Services are scheduled on September 21st 2pm-6pm for viewing. He will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery on September 22nd.
