I worked with Fred when he was a LT and I was a 3rd class yeoman.  We were with COMPHIBGRU ONE.  We were embarked on the USS MT McKinley, USS Estes and USS E lDorado.  I was the only one that could red his writing so everything he wrote they gave it to me to type.  His saying was "BURN BABY BURN"  He was a great human being.  I was lucky to know him.  When he bought his first house in San Diego, I went with him and we painted the inside and made copies of our reel to reel tapes.  I think of him often and I know the good lord blessed him and took him in under his wings. God Bless you Fred.  Rick.   

Thank you, Leona, for letting us know about Fred's passing.   When we reach this age of 80+, there are far too many of our friends  leaving us.  We all knew each other for a short time in Sparks, but it was always great to get your Christmas card and renew those memories.  On a lighter note, I never would have guessed that Fred was over 181 since he didn't look a day over 100! We will certainly cherish his memory and hope that you are doing OK.  We can't be there to give our love and a good hug but we sure wish we could.  All our love, Marcia and Bill
