Fran was born on June 4, 1934 in West Orange, NJ to Laurence Odell Ford and Katharine Stafford Adams Ford. After attending Miss Beard’s School in West Orange, NJ, Fran attended Simmons University in Boston and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy. While at Simmons, Fran met her future husband David Morse, who attended MIT, and the two moved to San Diego, CA in 1958 to start their new life together.
In 1970 Fran and David co-founded Ford Investor Services, an investment advisory business. Ford created a high-quality fundamental database of stock data for its institutional clients and developed an early equity analysis tool called EPIC. Fran oversaw marketing and operated Ford Investor Services with David until 2004 when they sold the business to Mergent.
Fran loved cruises, world travel and the Alisal Guest Ranch in Santa Ynez, CA where the entire family vacationed every year since 1971. Fran was very social and cared deeply for her family and friends. She was an active member of La Jolla Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon for many years. Fran and David moved to White Sands La Jolla retirement community in 2015 and Fran was an active Board member and was well loved by her many new friends. Her twilight years at White Sands were some of the happiest of her life.
Fran was predeceased by her parents, her husband David and her sister Audrey. Her memory will forever be held in the hearts of her surviving family: her sister Alison; her three children James, Robert and Susan; six grandchildren, Aubrey, Alec, Stephen, Amanda, Kathryn and Alec Ferry; and three great-grandchildren, Ford, Logan, and Trae.
A service to celebrate her life is scheduled for Saturday April 5, 2025 at 11:00 at El Camino Mortuary in Sorrento Valley.
