Connie Lucero Pesqueira was born February 4th 1934 in Calexico, CA. Connie was the sixth of seven girls born to Jose Lucero Peloux and Mercedes Corazon Castro. Connie attended Calexico High School where she was very active in school activities. She was selected as Freshman Homecoming Princess in 1950 and later was voted senior Homecoming Queen. While in high school, Connie worked at the Aztec Theater where she met the love of her life, Ignacio (Nacho) Pesqueira. Nacho asked Connie to marry him while she was a senior in high school and they married in October after graduation in 1953.
Connie and Nacho started their family soon after and was blessed with their first child, Rosemarie.
Connie and Nacho worked at the Reception Center in Imperial Valley for the Bracero program in the 50’s along with her sister Maggie and future brother in-law, Oscar.
Connie and Nacho went on to have three more children, Michael, Freddy, and Connie Jr. Connie was a homemaker for several years until her children were older and then went to work for the Calexico school district as a teacher’s assistant until she retired in 1991.
Connie and Nacho moved to Mira Mesa where they bought a condo. They lived their dream and toured the U.S. for months at a time in their motorhome. They enjoyed their retirement together with family and friends for many years until her Viejito’s, (Nacho, as she lovingly referred to him), passing in 1997.
In later years, Connie enjoyed going on many cruises with her family and traveling to the Mexican Riviera, Bahamas, Alaska and Hawaii with her sisters.
If you went in a casino in San Diego, chances were good you would find Connie and her sister Maggie at their favorite machine.
