On July 2, 2022, Mr. Chinh Van Trinh passed away peacefully in The University of California, Irvine Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Dinh Cong Village, Ha Dong Province, Vietnam, in 1931, he was the son of the late Kinh Van Trinh and Hien Thi Nguyen. Chinh is preceded in death by his first wife - Kim Thi Tran. He is survived by his second wife - Hai Thi Tran; his five sons and their wives - Khai Trinh and Marie Trinh, Ben Trinh and Trang Trinh, Brian Trinh and Diem Tran, Bang Trinh, and Daniel Trinh and Xuan Vu; his three daughters and their husbands - Pam Trinh and Long Phan, Ann Trinh and Anthony Vu, and Kieu Trando and Huey Trando; as well as his ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will all miss him dearly and deeply. Before 1975, Chinh served as a lieutenant colonel medical doctor in the army of The Republic of Vietnam. Following the end of the Vietnam War, he was sent to re-education camps for three years, before the communist government allowed him to work again as a doctor. In 1989, Chinh came to America as a refugee, first residing in San Diego and then in Orange County, California. Like any other foreign doctors coming to the U.S., Chinh would need certain time of training to get back to his medical career. However, in his effort to support his family, he chose to work as a medical laboratory associate at Quest Diagnostic in Orange County until his retirement.
Throughout his life, Chinh consistently studied hard and worked hard to be a virtuous person. All of his family members will remember him as a witty and kind-hearted individual who encouraged them to pursue their goals. As a medical doctor for thirty years, Chinh truly made a difference in the lives of those who were treated by him or had the honor of knowing him. His generosity was a great legacy, as he always gave anonymously to people in need and charitable organizations without wanting recognition. Chinh was a true believer of Buddhism; he understood that suffering, illness, aging, and death are integral parts of life for any human being. And he is now on the path to the end of suffering, where he will find eternal peace.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, starting at 10 a.m. at El Camino Memorial Park - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121. The service will be officiated by Buddhist Monk Dong Chau of Bo De Temple of Santa Ana, California. All are welcome to attend.
