Charles J. C. Scott passed away at the age of 94 at Veterans Hospital, San Diego, CA on June 13, 2021. He was born on the 18th day of December 1926 in Cleburne, Texas, to parents Willis and Minnie Scott. He grew up in a household of 3 older brothers and 2 older sisters. He married the love of his life Carmen Casillas on April 13, 1947 in El Paso, Texas, where their three children were born.
Charles served our country twice, enlisting in the Navy during WWII and again in the Army during the Korean War. While serving in the Military, the family lived in different parts of the country as well as in Japan.
He attended the Texas Western College, now the University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP) and received a Degree in Geology and a Masters Degree in Education. He taught high school in Texas and California. He enjoyed family time, geology, and fishing. After retirement, Carmen and Charlie moved to the beach community of Imperial Beach, CA.
Charles was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Carmen Casillas Scott, his parents, and his siblings.
He was a proud Husband, Father, and Grandfather who will be greatly missed by surviving family members: daughter Mary Katherine Scott of Imperial Beach, CA and son Charles E. Scott (Chuck) and wife, Jean of El Cajon, CA, and Dr. John R. Scott and wife, Debbie of Cambria, CA. His surviving grandchildren include: Jason and Lucas Scott of Yuba City, CA, Luree Scott of El Cajon, CA, Jessica Scott of New York, and John Allen Scott of Santa Barbara, CA. He will be fondly remembered by numerous Casillas family members in El Paso, Texas and California.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fredericka Manor in Chula Vista, CA for the care and attention they provided him during the two years he was in residence.
Services will be held July 7, 2021 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 990 Saturn Blvd., San Diego, CA 92154. Viewing at 11 am, followed by the Rosary at 11:30 am and Mass at 12 noon. Burial immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery 4470 Hilltop Dr., San Diego, CA 92102.
