His sense of humor and passion for family kept him younger than his 95 years. He is predeceased by his oldest daughter Cheryl, and survived by; Debbie and Louis Beacham, Peggy and Russell Stern III and Heather and Ron Bloemperk. His 7 grandchildren Matthew and wife Morgan Jenner; Alex, Siena, and Marion Beacham, Sebastian, Zachary and Joshua Bloemperk and 3 Great Grandchildren.
During his 22 year Naval Career, Charley flew from 14 different Aircraft Carriers, as well as bases throughout the world; he was privileged to make the 1000th plane landing on the USS Hornet. He flew in 31 different kinds of airplanes ranging from open air cockpit bi-wing, to the prop driven fighters; the Corsair, the Hellcat, and the Banshee and Cougar jets. Stationed on the USS Midway early in 1950, then later on the USS Boxer providing cover for the Battle of Inchon. He completed his Naval career in Wash DC leading the Talos, Terrier and Tartar Surface Missile System Project. His love of traveling took him around the world visiting every church and holy site he could find. He was a celebrated member of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre, and a founding member of All Hallows Parish.
He will be celebrated at All Hallows Church Friday Nov 5th at 10 AM and his Interment will be at Miramar National Cemetery on 11/8/21 at 0900.
