Bruce Wayne Furtado, 71, of Lakeside, CA passed away on Easter Sunday April 9, 2023. He was born and raised in Chula Vista, CA and attended Chula Vista High School, alumni of class of 1970. He married Karen McCleary Aug 4, 1972 they had three children together and later married Melanie Davis who passed 1.21.2020. Bruce served in the Army from 1975 - 1981 and dedicated his career to the state of California Corrections for 41 years retiring as a Lieutenant. He is survived by his ex-wife Karen Furtado, and his three children Kevin Bruce Furtado, Ryan Andrew Furtado, and Jennifer Rae Poe, 8 Grandchildren, Corey, Chris, Emily, Eva, Levi, Jocelyn, Kenna, and Kira, and three brothers, David, Randy, and Greg. He was also very close to Melanie’s siblings Vicki, Robin, Dave, and nephews Eric and Mike. Bruce loved his family, animals, fishing, sports, and traveling. He had the nickname Spud, proud of his Portuguese decent, proud to be a veteran, and was a Padres baseball fan. He will be forever missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him.
