I didn't know Tony but I knew his mother, Mary, whom I adored so much and his sister Ida.  To the  Diaz family I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope that it gives you some comfort in knowing that he is now with your mother and father and the Lord.  God's blessings.

The News caught me off guard...Tony is missed by me Big Time...already...Tony taught me one of the biggest lessons of life...that we all could learn from...to have a friend's back at all costs...from the good times at the Diaz Home ...playing pool...& eating to the reality's of life ..
Tony had my back to the end...its not goodbye 4 ever...tony ...its just goodbye 4 now...I will See you in Heaven someday...love you brother...

I remember Toney from when I was a little boy we lived on Cowlyway  I was friends with his little brother Everett Diaz  I remember his dad worked for the San Diego Zoo  and they had a monkey in there frunt yard named Chena  that monkey used to scare the hell out of me she would act like she wanted to be peted and then grab you LOL  I  sometimes have dreams about them days they where the better times in my life and I miss my old friend Everett we moved from our house in 1968  and the last thing my little friend everett told me is that he would miss me  I do drive by now and then on Cowleyway snd remember all the good times we had  from catching toads to eating at the doanut truck  ,,,RIP TONEY

scolding and lectures about cleaning up and living a healthier life.
It was only because I loved you so much and wanted to have you around for a long time that I did that.  I love you very much and will 
cherish our memories forever.

My brother, Tony was born in Old Town San Diego to Mary and David Diaz. He was the fifth out of six children. He was a sweet affectionate boy, the apple of his sister’s eyes.
He grew up in Clairemont and went to Longfellow Elementary, Marston Junior High then on to Clairemont High School. Tony played baseball at Tecolote Park which he was good at and loved. His dad never missed a game. He would also be seen doing wheelies on his bike all over. He loved playing the Congas growing up with Carlos Santana music. When he heard Carlos Santana would be playing at a concert at Bonita Plaza, he ran home to get his Congas and was invited on stage to join Carlos Santana, who just starting out, to do a solo. That was the highlight in his life.
Tony would build bikes with long handlebars for both kids and adults. He would often give a bike to a child that didn’t own one, payment was their smiles when he handed over the bike. He also enjoyed swimming at the beach and hanging out with friends. Always willing to help a friend, Tony was well liked. His favorite sayings would be “Freedom and Lean Back”.  He had a small business at one time called Lunar Landscaping. He was a free spirit and enjoyed doing what made him happy which was no rules or responsibilities.
Tony was very close to his mother which he adored. She was number one in his eyes and treated her like a queen. Bringing her flowers, yard pieces like frogs and turtles for her beautiful garden or maybe some eggs to share breakfast together. He also loved his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
We will miss our brother with his big heart and compassionate ways that was taken too soon due to heart failure. 


I remember Tony from when I was working at Sunset Bowl , He would come in && just talk to me 😊 I knew he had a reputation , but he was always nice & respectful to me .... Rest In Paradise My Friend 🙏🏼

I remember hanging in the garage with Tony and Mike Ketteringham listening to Peter Rabbit practice next door. The monkey grabbed me by my army jacket and Mr Diaz had to free me! LOL. Good times as a kids in the Neighborhood. Sad those Brothers are gone.

My dear Uncle Tony. You were always the calm and peaceful uncle/brother. You made me so happy when you would ask me how many pancakes did I eat, proudly I would say 5! You introduced me to the music of the soul. Your congas used to grab my soul, and I will still hear them in the wind. You will be missed. Love, your niece  Deserie

Tony was such a dedicated and loyal friend. When he had your back you knew it was solid. I will always love him for that.
