Alma Cecilia Torres and her twin Teresa were born to Maria Vasquez on March 6, 1968 in Los Angeles, California. Alma is the eldest of 2 sisters, and 4 brothers. Alma was raised in Tijuana, until the family moved to Oceanside, California. She started school at Stockton Elementary, later moved to San Diego and went to Memorial J.R High and Lincoln High School. Alma was only 15 when she started working in Nazareth convalescent home. Alma got married to Manuel Jesus Torres on September 7, 1985 at the age 17. Month’s later Manuel de Jesus Torres J.R was born. 3 years later Antonio was born on December 10, 1988. At the age 23 she was diagnosed with a kidney disease, a couple months later she got pregnant with her 3rd baby boy Noel as a high-risk pregnancy who was born on December 28, 1990. When Noel was about 2 Alma had kidney failure but luckily Alma’s twin sister Teresa donate her a kidney. A year and half later Alma had her first baby girl Alma who was born on September 9, 1994. When Baby Alma was 2 Momma Alma was again diagnosed with kidney failure and had to immediately begin dialysis. It was difficult for her at first, having 4 small children running around while being sick. Even though it was difficult she had a lot of help from her sister’s and husband. Although at times her sickness made her sad, she never stopped smiling. Alma loved to laugh, dance and sing even though she always changed the lyrics. She loved making fun of family and friends, goofing around. She loved shopping and cooking and collecting pictures and frames. Even though, the years past and life got hard she never gave up. She would always say, “My kids are the reason she got up every morning with smile”. She loved her two grandchildren to death she loved seeing them dance and whine and make a mess all over the house and call her grandma, and give her hugs and kisses. She never complained about a thing in life, she said that her life was perfect the way it is.
