Teresa M. Sanchez, age 87, passed away on October 28, 2024 at home in San Bernardino, CA. Born in La Piedad, Michoacan, Mexico where she lived for 19 years. She excelled in crocheting and needle point, winning many awards as a young girl. She married in 1956 and had three children before immigrating to the United States and settling in San Bernardino, California. As a dedicated housewife and mother, she bore three more children before starting work at Loma Linda Hospital as a housekeeper for nine years.
In December of 1979, Teresa and her family opened Las Cazuelitas Mexican Restaurant in downtown Upland, CA. She grew the restaurant into a favorite meeting place for countless families in the area. Affectionately called "Mamacita" by many customers, she became part of everyone's family. Her signature dishes including Christmas tamales, chile rellenos, chilaquiles, and her famous house dressing quickly became local favorites and were featured in Inland Empire and West Ways magazines. She especially loved participating in local events such as the Lemon Festival, Upland Farmers Market, Scar-A-Fair, and Downtown Upland Christmas Parade.
After retiring in November of 2013, Teresa spent her time tending to her garden and her favorite flowers, roses, at her home in San Bernardino. Took pride in taking cuttings and turning it into a beautiful rose bush.
She enjoyed traveling to see her growing family who now reside around the U.S. She taught her family many things but most importantly she instilled the values of hard work, dreaming big, and having the determination to achieve their own goals. Teresa is survived by her family: son's, daughter's and spouse's Bardo (Nora), Esther (Gary), Hector, Connie (Roberto), Javier, and Teresa.
